Holiday Cottage, Port Isaac, Cornwall sleeps 4/5

Former Coastgaurds Cottage located in a small unspoilt fishing village in North Cornwall

Located in the small unspoilt fishing village of Port Isaac on the rugged north coast of Cornwall, Viddy is a former coastguard cottage ideally situated in a quiet courtyard, within a short walking distance of the harbour and coastal path.

Port Isaac also known as Port Wenn, the fictional village of Doc Martin starring Martin Clunes has become extremely popular with the tourist all seeking out the local landmarks which appear in the programme.

Adults and children alike have lots to explore, rock pools, crabbing, swimming, sightseeing or seafishing boat trips.  During the high season every Thursday evening a local brass band play on the platt and march up Fore Street to the Flora dance and Friday evenings The Fisherman's Friends sing sea shanties.

The R.N.L.I. plays an important role in the village with the inflatable lifeboat housed at the top of the platt always ready for a "shout."

The two small harbours nestling either side of Port Isaac are both worth a visit.  The walk from Port Isaac to Port Quinn via the coastal path is not to be missed although not for the feint hearted. There you will find a sad but beautiful hamlet also known as the village that died. Many years ago a storm took the lives of all the local fishermen after which their dependants left the hamlet which is now owned by the National Trust.  Port Gaverne has a small sandy beach suitable for bathing and rock pooling where you can watch the gig racing in season, enjoy a cold beer and good pub grub.

Fresh fish and seafood are always readily available in the local restaurants and pubs also can be purchased from the fish cellars.
